THE SHELL (POEM)

Timid of darkness, brave in the light

willing to change, if the day stays bright.

Echo’s abounding, where I dwell, dare

I go look, leaving my shell.

Passions arise deep from within

can they be vented, is it a sin?

When fear comes a calling, silent and

swift, without any warning, the mood does shift.

Looking for completeness, while swallowed by

a hole, can a change of attitude make me whole.

While standing naked in an emotional storm

will a kindly word help make me warm.

The way ahead looks long and narrow

mood is lifted by a chirp of a sparrow.

Surrounded by many, but feeling alone

the cold of isolation freezes the bone.

Hope you like the poem.

regards Michael.
